A bit of fun trying to find this; go round the side driveway of the Melford House hotel and carry on through into the back garden towards the sunken and standalone conservatory style building in the garden. It’s the only ‘pub’ in the locale and on our visit was populated by a smattering of well-to-do old boys plus someone who was staying in Farnborough for business and had looked the place up – much like us – in the GBG. A good effort has been made by the owner (it is part of the hotel operation) to give the place a bit of pub feel, with a proper servery and old brewery mirrors on the walls, plus a dart board. Four ales on the go when we popped in on a Tuesday evening, with a really good line-up across strengths and styles. Pints of Rebellion XX, Ossett EKG and Thornbridge Jaipur Noir all slipped down well (NBSS 3, 3.5 and 4). Note that toilets are located within the main hotel – directions will be given! Me and my companion both really enjoyed ourselves here, a real home from home.
